Light, Pattern and Texture

by Al Hannigan on July 19, 2008

I have always been fascinated with how light can transform an ordinary, everyday subject into something far more interesting …

This bathroom door is something I see everyday, but today the late afternoon light coming from the window and catching the glass knob at an angle, created a wonderful combination of pattern and texture that really appealed to my graphic senses.

I chose B&W to emphasize the effect.

Enjoy, and as always your comments are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Sharlene, it’s one of my favorites. I love how light can often turn simple subjects into interesting photos.

I must say I love this one. I often am mesmerized by ordinary things caught in a certain light. I rarely can express it through my pictures though. I dream of a better camera than mine but for now I shall do with it! (it’s not such a bad camera anyway ^^).

I’m loving this blog! 🙂

This is the sort of pic that keeps photography fascinating. A very simple and common sight, but can be made into a very striking image. Keep me looking and re-looking at the world around me to find the simple, yet intersting things around me.
